A day in the park
The park is at its liveliest at either end of the day. Before sunrise the paths fill with runners and walkers; tai chi groups and dancers gather in the pavilions and open spaces. In the evening, as the heat breaks, outdoor exercise classes draw hundreds of people. In the middle of the day the park is quieter, and the shade of the rain trees by the lake is the place to be.

On the last Sunday of each month, monks lead Dharma activities in the early morning. During the cool season, open-air concerts are held on Sunday evenings, including the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra's Concert in the Park.
Visiting with respect
The national anthem
At 08:00 and 18:00 the Thai national anthem is played over the park's loudspeakers. Everyone stops where they are, runners included, and stands still until it ends. Please do the same.
The Royal Monument
The monument to King Vajiravudh at the main entrance is a place of honour. Do not climb it, sit on its steps or pose in a way that could seem disrespectful, and treat images of the royal family with the same respect, here and anywhere in Thailand.
Park rules
- Smoking is not allowed anywhere in the park.
- Dogs are not allowed in the park, with the exception of assistance dogs.
- Cycling is restricted to set hours and routes; follow the signs.
- Do not feed or disturb the wildlife.
- Dress modestly, take your litter with you, and keep music to yourself.
Tips
- Bring water: Bangkok is hot all year, and hottest from March to May.
- Sunset over the lake, with the skyline behind it, is one of the finest views in the city.
- Afternoon thunderstorms are common from May to October; the pavilions offer shelter.
